You Either Love Them Or Hate Them…Or Both

I was having a bad day on Sunday. So, like every good teenager, I locked myself in my room(metaphorically, I don’t actually have a lock on my room) and listened to The Smiths. I really enjoyed listing to them then, but when a Smiths song came on my MP3 player today I felt like my ears were being raped(mind you, if you ever want someone to kill themselves, just lock them in a room with a morrisey record and a gun). This got me thinking, everybody talks about bands they love or bands they hate, or even bands they’re indifferent about. So how come no one ever talks about bands they like but hate at the same time?
This doesn’t just apply to the Smiths either. I do like them. Their “I may but miserable but I’m still ever so witty” lyrics are better than a vast majority of emo lyrics and they do have some very good songs. But they also have Morissey’s wailing and some of the most annoying fans in the history of music. To be honest, I’d rather be stuck in a room full of MCR die-hards than a room full of die-hard smiths fans.
Emo is another thing I like and hate all at once. I have a bit of a soft spot for a good emo band. I’m even prone to listening to My Chemical Romance if the mood strikes. But emos really annoy me. Just because you’ve got make believe problems, a bad dye job and a fringe, it doesn’t mean you have the right to block all the stairs in the city (of course their are really nice emos and not all of them make believe, but still the stair hogging is annoying).
I want to know everyone’s love-but-hate bands. Are there any bands you really hate but love at the same time or visa versa?
